ScubaShop: one app to run a dive shop
Our own multi-tenant SaaS for independent dive shops: point of sale, rentals, courses and certifications, trips, air fills, staff scheduling and maintenance in one system, with every shop isolated in its own database schema.
The story
ScubaShop is our own product, designed, built and run by Embercrest. Dive shops juggle retail, rentals, classes, boats and compressors, usually across several disconnected tools. ScubaShop puts the whole shop behind one login, across one or more locations.
What we built
- Point of sale with card payments through Stripe Connect, plus store credit and receipts.
- Retail and rental gear with serial tracking, check-out and check-in, deposits and damage notes.
- Courses with PADI, NAUI and SSI certifications held by staff and customers.
- Bookable pools, boats and dive sites with maximum occupancy enforced inside the booking transaction.
- Group trips with rosters, rooming and payment plans, boat charters and shuttle runs.
- Air and nitrox fill logs, tank inspections, and maintenance schedules that can lock a compressor out until it is serviced.
- E-signed waivers, a customer self-service portal, staff roles and skills, and a phone-first mobile view.
How it is built
Django and Django REST Framework with django-tenants (a PostgreSQL schema per shop), Redis, Celery and Celery Beat for reminders and nightly sweeps, and a SvelteKit front end rendered on the server and hydrated in the browser. It runs as containers on K3s with cert-manager, S3-compatible object storage and Sentry error reporting.
